My career as a registered dental hygienist began in 2009 upon graduating from dental hygiene school. I have had many different career opportunities and have worked with hundreds of patients. I am thankful for each experience and each patient because they have led me to the place I am today. I was introduced to the fascinating field of Orofacial Myology through a continuing education course and I couldn’t help but jump right in!

I completed training with the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT) and MyoMentors with Sarah K. Hornsby. As I was going through Myofunctional Therapy training, I felt like pieces of a puzzle were coming together and I could understand the root causes of the ailments that have troubled many of the patients, young and old, that I have worked with over the years. I have also been led to awareness of my own orofacial myofunctional disorders. I have been through my own myofunctional therapy and I finally have relief from chronic headaches, neck pain and poor sleep quality that I have dealt with for a long time.

I enjoy working with patients of all ages. With children, prevention is key! Growth can be guided and orofacial myofunctional disorders can be prevented. With adults, restoration is the goal. I love helping adults find relief and achieve an improved quality of life by addressing the root causes of chronic pain such as TMD/TMJ, neck pain, digestive issues, postural problems, headaches, breathing problems, sleep apnea and more. So often, these issues have been treated with band-aids and the root causes have not been identified.

When I am not working part-time as a clinical dental hygienist at a local office, or working with myofunctional therapy patients, I enjoy time with my husband and our young adult children. My passion for restoration shows itself in my hobby of refinishing old furniture, and restoring our 1914 home with my husband.
